Poker Deposit Options
Last checked and updated: April 18, 2017
As an online poker player, you will soon learn how many different options there really are when it comes to depositing money into a poker account. It is important that you are able to easily deposit and withdraw into your online account at any time without any problems. In the past, especially for U.S. players, it has been fairly tough to deposit money and even harder to withdraw. Because of that, there have been several new methods added to the list, all of which are great options. You can always check out the no deposit poker offers that might be available to you if you are not ready to deposit just yet.
For a long time, Neteller was the King of deposit methods; there was simply no reason to use any other deposit method. In recent times, there have been some issues with Neteller and their U.S., Canadian and Turkish players. Now Neteller is no longer an option for players from these countries.
If you are outside of the U.S. it is still one of the best methods you could use to deposit and withdraw money into and out of your poker account.
Neteller is an ‘online wallet’ – you need to take money from your bank and put it into your Neteller account, and then you can transfer it from Neteller to your favorite poker room.
The ewallet provider Skrill is another useful service when it comes to deposit and withdrawing from your online gambling accounts. Recently both Skrill and Neteller were bought out by the evoucher business PaysafeCard, so now those three are all owed by the same company, even though they continue to operate as individual businesses.
Paypal have only recently started allowing gambling sites to use their services, and then only in some markets. So UK players can use this service for both deposits and withdrawals to and from online gambling sites, but players from the USA and some other countries can not use it. There is a nice list of Paypal casinos with low deposit limits here. Some of those casinos will have poker rooms attached, though many will not.
Visa Credit Card
Probably the most common deposit method available to online poker players is credit card. Visa is widely accepted at online poker rooms, but again players from America may have trouble with depositing.
MasterCard Credit Card
MasterCard is as widely accepted as Visa, but we treat them seperately here as different deposit limits can apply for the different credit cards.
One of the best deposit options for poker players online is through eCheck. This is a form that is not offered by all poker rooms, but is offered by some of the best. For example, Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker both offer eChecks at this time.
An eCheck is very simple to use. It is the same thing as writing a check; except you are doing it online as an electronic check. This is probably the most convenient and easy way to make a deposit if the method is available to you.
Click2Pay is very similar to Neteller. It is not quite as big, but still is offering the same idea. If you are based in the US, you cannot use Click2Pay. For those that can use Click2Pay, once you have your account set up you can make deposits and withdrawals very easily.
InstaDebit is a very simple and easy to use online wallet, but it has some drawbacks. The first, and biggest one is that it is only available to Canadian residents at this time.
As you can see, there are several different poker deposit methods. There are many more, some of which will be added here after we review them.
The main concern with any poker deposit method has to be security. Nothing else really matters – speed of deposit and withdrawal, fee, etc – if it is not safe to use it in the first place.
Once you are satisfied that it is a safe deposit method, then the issues of speed, fees, and ease of use should be considered.
